Plastic Words
Like plastic faces
Like little lies
In little places
Like a touch so light
Like a word so small
Like a half-hearted smile
On a person so tall
Like a friend who had promised
Like a friend who had kept
Like a friend who had left you
The moment you wept
Like a stuttering laugh
Like a shivering cry
Like a whisper of loving
At places passed by
Like a heart filled with rage
Like a heart filled with lies
Plastic words
Plastic faces
Things we live by

The owner stood in the rain, outside a mental institution, his borrowed warden uniform soaked to the point where it clung to him like a second skin. His wet hair was matted around his papery face, with jutting cheekbones, dark bags under his eyes, and a stubble beginning to form on his chin. A severed heart, still warm, was clutched in a hand, and he hungrily licked at it, then glanced over to its naked container. His dead eyes stared mournfully into the gray skies, rare for Miami.
The owner took a nibble out of the heart, smiling serenly at the dead man. "Thanks for this outfit. And the trea
- One Day Later -
I walked into court shivering. I knew I was a mess, my blue hair dye washed out from my frequent attempts at cleansing myself after what Nate had done to me. The now blonde hair was uncombed and sloppy, my wrists unseen but bandaged and sliced underneath my wrinkled, deep purple suit. Dark bags under my eyes defied the fact that I hadn't slept a wink for three nights in a row, not even closing my eyes to doze once.
A group of boys obviously there to cheer for me whispered at my appearence with worried expressions, and the judge gave a disbelieving look at me as I sat down.
"..." I didn't dare look at where Nate s
The first day of my two-day break I spent lying on my bed, doing nothing but seeing in my mind all the ways any of those victims could have been Rachel, knowing that if she had I wouldn't have been able to save her, imagining what Nate would do to her, and all the like. The only thing that probably kept my sanity that day was the conversations with Rachel over texting. She told me how painfully boring it was in her meetings, and that she hoped her next case would be more thrilling, and that she wished she could be there to help me with mine.
The night time was when I was most afraid. That was when Rachel h

TMM: Week Two Day Five
Since Nate and I had the encounter in the hall, I'd been fearing the day I returned to court after our day off. I even contemplated not showing up, but the obviously ridiculous thought was thrown out of my mind just as quick as it had arrived.
I myself arrived in court in a weary status, and tried to hide it the best I could.
The judge slammed his gavel to announce the beginning of court for the day, and looked at me without much excitment left in his eyes. "Mister Holeweet, do you have anything new you would like to present to us today...?"
I nodded slowly, and opened

TMM: Week Two Day Four
"... It's only been two weeks.." I murmured to myself, staring at my cell that had nearly been forgotten. A text from my girlfriend, Rachel Stonewall, read that she was going to be back in another seven days.
A sigh flew from my parted lips. Too long. Much too long... I miss you so much, Rachel...
Exiting from the text, I was greeted with my wallpaper; a picture I had taken of Rachel and I with my phone, where her arms were wrapped around my neck, and cheek pressed to mine. We both had cheerful smiles, and my cheeks were flushed with joy.
Tears pooled my eyes, and, before I knew what was happening, I was crying.
"... I miss
